social roles

Males have always said to be the dominant sex. The fathers of families are in charge, they make the rules, are the head of the house and occasionally are the workers who provide the families needs. In Peru this type of thinking is exercised. The males are the head of the household and landowners. This gender and lineage hierarchy is to be seen as families walk single file to market, each carrying their bundles, the husband leading the way, followed by his wife and then the children. Fathers often exercise strong authoritarian roles, controlling the family budget, administering discipline, and representing the group interest to the external world. I believe these ways are slowly changing. Women are becoming more independent from their husbands. Women have their own jobs, own land and are in charge of their household. This role switch is seen more and more but in may countries, including Peru the sex roles remain the same, where the father is in charge.
In Peru, no matter what their status, show a high degree of unity, purpose, and integration through generations, as well as in the nuclear unit. The father is the family head, although women increasingly have this titular role in rural as well as urban areas, in up to 20 percent of all households.
The male, head of household is considered the authority. His wife follows him, yet exercises considerable control over her own affairs with respect to property and marketing.
Both men and woman wear colorful clothing. Geometric patterns and bright colors are found throughuot woman's clothing. For example, Ilcilla, a small blanket is usually woven with colorful designs, usually red. This is worn around the women's shoulder. The man’s hat is a sombrero to shade the man from the sun. This is worn over the challo, the knit hat that identifies the village or region the man is from. This knit hat is woven from wool and is actually knitted by the man’s father with the idea that the male will keep and wear it forever. Colorful and woven blankets or ponchos are also part of the traditional male clothing. These are not everyday attire for the most part any longer, and are used mainly for festival and celebrations. Of course, pants are made form wool and are of a solid color, this being a deviation from the geometric patterns.

Government and cultural diversity
Governments should be actively involved in protecting cultural diversity. Having a diversity in cultures is significantly affected by the government and it's decisons. A variety of ethnicities, religions, and cultures live, work, interact and participate in political issues. This is only done when it is fully accepted by society, or the government.
Government can either make our outlaw measures that can facilitate cultural diversity. Such as immigration laws and having the borders under strict control. Making the borders a less strict creation allows immigrants to enter a country and interact with different cultures and even create a new one. Government can also give social support to its immigrants and give them different opportunities to enter another state or country, allowing them to expose their cultures and beliefs elsewhere. The government can create measures that encourage respect for multiculturalism , such as not allowing discrimination, offering various culture and artistic education classes, allowing foreign festivals and holidays, or even having different language programs. Overall multiculturalism promotes more tolerant societies, when different cultures come together and contribute to each other by encouraging them to get involved in various culture activities.
Cultures are born in one certain area in the world where they are safely preserved. People moving out of that location can cause that certain language, or culture, to die out. But allowing people to leave their birth places is what enriches other places with a variety of culture. Government enforcing harsh border laws can decrease the number of immigrants, not letting diversity into the country but only letting it assimilate into one culture, a dominant one. Another point I disagree on is when the founding for multi culture classes in college was no longer funded in the colleges in Tucson, AZ. This action caused an uproar and many were upset by it. Government is no longer allowing students to have knowledge on what their ancestors, or neighboring countries, once did in order to survive, or the beliefs they had or even the clothing they wore and languages they once spoke. This is basically erasing what lead us to be what we are now, our history.

Globalization
Globalization means integration between previously separated regions, allowing the communication and sharing of information and goods. Peru is a country that depends greatly on its natural resources. But it if weren't for trade, or exportations, Peru's profit would be nowhere without foreign investing companies. Peru depends on its exports, its agriculture has been greatly benefited by globalization, simply because Peru has many unique kinds of vegetables and a variety of foods that are not found anywhere else. With these exporting facilities, it could generate a large amount of profit from agriculture itself. Due to its rich natural resources, Peru depends a lot on rich country investors. As a country which centers is income on production and natural resources, globalization maximizes Peru's profit.
